The Maqui Berry, otherwise known as the “chilean wineberry” is the newest of the “extreme” ORAC superfruits to be popularized, with one of the highest antioxidant concentrations in the world, even more than the recently popular acai berry. In fact, in antioxidant absorbency tests, the maqui berry was found to be almost twice as potent.
The Maqui Berry from Patagonia , is an evergreen tree suitable for hedging and with the added benefit of its fruit being a super food.
It produces blueberry like delicious berries, easy to grow, tolerating cold and hot and some frost. The fruits are packed with disease fighting Anthocyanins & phytochemicals which combat disease , boosting immunity and gives us a get up and go.
Current plant height approx 70cm
Eventual growth height 3 - 5m – can be pruned to maintain smaller size
